TREAT DIARRHEA AND INFECTIONS OF GASTROINTESTINAL

Colistin is antibiotic of polimixines group. It acts bacteriocidically by damaging the permeability of bacterial membrane. The antibacterial activity of colistin is directed mainly to Gram-negative microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Haemophilus influenzae, Brucella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinobacter spp.). In peroral application colistin practically is not resorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. Due to the big size and specific characteristics of the molecule, colistin acts only in the intestines lumen, as at the same time adsorbs the excreted bacterial toxins. The toxins are excreted through the faeces without being resorbed by the intestinal wall and entering in the blood flow.

 INGREDIENTS: Each 1ml contains

Colistin sulfate…………………….. 400.000 UI

INDICATIONS:

For the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria: enteritis diarrhea caused by E.coli, gastro-intestinal, edema, cystitis, urogenital infections, metritis, arthritis, pneumonia.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

The use of this drug is contraindicated in animals with a history of allergic reaction to any of the Colistin.                                                                              DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION FOR USE:

For intramuscular administration, once a day for 3 – 5 days.

+        Cattle, camel: 1 ml per 7 – 8 kg body weight/ day.

+        Sheep, goat: 1 ml per 5 – 6 kg body weight/ day.

+        Poultry: 1 ml per 3 – 4 kg body weight/ day or can mixed with drinking water: 10 ml/ 1 liter of drinking water.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction: The activity of colistin is decreased in presence of calcium ions. Therefore, should be used 1 – 2 hours before or after using drug.
